Praise For… Wow, another great book in this series. I started this book immediately after finishing part four and feel asleep reading it then picked it up at am this morning and to finish it with a cup of coffee. These cliff hangers are going to get me yet because in this situation I don't have part six to pick up and keep going. She is one of the best authors who write about the Amish I have read. Wanda does a wonderful job of describing the Amish way of life and their traditions. Shopping Cart There are no products in your shopping cart.

The Silence of Winter, by Wanda E. Brunstetter is the second book in the Lancaster County saga. This story picks up after Goodbye to Yesterday. I was really excited to read this story after reading Goodbye to Yesterday, as it came to a sudden hault at a very high point of suspense. Meredith and her family are mourning the loss of Luke and are trying to move on with their lives. Meredith is pregnant with Luke's baby, and has a lot to prepare for. Meanwhile, Luke is in a coma in a hospital, unaware that his family believes he has perished in a horrible train crash.
The drug addicted drifter who stole Luke's train ticket, wallet, and clothing has met his death Thank God Luke did not board that train. A man from Meredith's past knocks on her door Apr 04, Mwinchester97 added it. The Silence of Winter is part 2 of 6 of this series. Young Amish wife Meredith receives the news that her husband has died in a horrible bus accident. She struggles with finding ways to cope with the grief of her husband's death.
She also learns that an old friend is coming back to town. I love the way that her family and friends are supporting her.

A new character is also introduced who is set up to have a bigger part in the next book. I think all of these books are going to end on a cliffhanger since this one did too!
If you liked the first one, then you will definitely enjoy this one! Mar 17, Megan rated it it was amazing Shelves: challenge-books , read-in , rlftciin , uno , books-to-movies-challenge , ammp-team-scottie-dog , march , the-game-s-afoot. I felt so badly for Meredith in this one, watching her grieve for Luke was so heartbreaking since they had such a great relationship.
There were some happier moments too, but this one was definitely more of a sad one - though I still enjoyed it a lot. I'm really glad that I had all the books on hand so I could continue reading right away, because after this one I jumped right into the next one. A super quick read.

Still better than the first book. Luke's "death" totally adds a new layer of drama to the story. And I get that Meredith is mourning but it seems like no one is the least bit concerned with how she is going to support the baby she is having. It's like an after thought. I didn't really like how we are made to feel sympathy for Alex just for him to die. I sort of wanted him to be rehabilitated or something, not a fiery bus crash. And all those kids that were on the bus singing, A super quick read. And all those kids that were on the bus singing, no one even mentioned because they are too concerned with Luke.
But I did like the book if for nothing else than because I am learning a lot about Amish people. Mar 25, Judy rated it it was amazing. The Saga Continues!

Once again Wanda Brunstetter left us with a cliff hanger! I can't wait to read The Hope of Spring to find out what happens next. You will love this series! Mar 15, Rhonda Gayle rated it it was amazing. Meredith must struggle with both tragedy and joy and will she ever have Luke to share her life with again? I don't want to "spoil" the book, but I will say that I have been hanging on the edge of my seat as I read. The volumes, I realize, have upset some readers, but I actually enjoy the quick readability of these volumes and wait with bated breath for each new installment!
I love seeing how the Amish help each other through hardtimes and tru oh, my heart simply breaks for Meredith and for Luke. I love seeing how the Amish help each other through hardtimes and truly wish that we had more of that going on among my world, the world of the Englisch. Jan 03, Janet rated it liked it. I enjoyed the second of 6, can't wait for the next one to see what happens to Luke and Meredith. Luke has traveled to his uncles to learn the business but at the bus station he gets attacked, the person who beat him up stole his id and when he was killed in a bus accident the family was told that Luke was killed.
Jan 14, Lori rated it it was amazing. This a great book about a young Amish widow, who recently lost her husband in an accident and is expecting a child in the summer.

Jul 10, Barbara added it. Haven't read yet and don't have a copy. Great sequel to the first one, listening to them All on audio books. Oct 15, Anne rated it it was amazing. Yet another cliffhanger. Started and finished in one night and started 3. Had a hard time putting down 3 to get some sleep.
Aug 08, Tara rated it really liked it Shelves: christian-fiction-read , read. Better than the first book; a little less predictable. I think it would have been better if these 6 books had been combined into one longer book. As soon as I figured out what would be happening in this book, I just couldn't do it.
If it had been one book, I feel like I could have pushed through it, just to know the ending, but the thought of having to wait to read through the next several books was just exhausting.

Apr 26, Crissy rated it really liked it. I loved that I had the full boxed set in front of me as when I finished book 1 and the house was still quiet I could grab book 2. Each little book leaves you wanting more but gives you a good stopping point when the rest of the world comes crashing into your quiet morning.
Jun 18, Oksana Gantukh rated it did not like it. This would never happen in the real world and I feel like it is lazy writing with minimal research. Oct 07, Sarah Wiley rated it it was amazing. It is such a good thing the books in this series have been shorter in length.
May 04, Christina rated it really liked it. The Discovery series of books is very short books, but they are really good and well written. I think of has a big book took apart into 6 books. The books really follows each other. They are fast and good reads. I like to read one of these books after I finish a big long book. Jan 25, Larissa rated it really liked it. I'm really sad about what's going on and how they are apart. I'm curious as to what is going to happen. May 23, Chelsey Carter rated it liked it. If you made it through book 1, then you already know the rest are better.
The further in the series you get, the better it gets!
